Jaan Capital’s Commitments + Your Role Post-Sale

The transaction, by definition, is about valuation, diligence, and closing.
What happens after the deal closes also matters:
Who’s running the company?
What’s expected of the seller?
What kind of buyer is stepping in?
When I acquired SuperSalon, after nearly five months of courting, diligence, and deal work, an investor called me and said:
“𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙪𝙡𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨, 𝙮𝙤𝙪’𝙫𝙚 𝙘𝙧𝙤𝙨𝙨𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙚.”
I was the buyer, but the statement holds true for any seller too. The close is just the beginning of a new chapter.
What I Commit to After the Sale
I don’t walk in with a blueprint to overhaul the business. If I’m buying it, it’s because I believe it’s already great. Instead, I commit to:
Listening first
Learning from the team
Asking questions
Understanding what’s working
Working to unlock more value over time
Beyond that, I commit to:
Doing what I say I’ll do
Being transparent with you and the team
Focusing on what creates long-term value
I’m here to build on what already works and earn the right to lead.
Your Role, Your Choice
Every seller is different, so I offer a few clear paths:
Board Member or Advisor
If you’ve rolled equity, staying involved at the board level might be a great way to contribute and participate in the upside.
Focused Operational Role
If you want to stay involved, especially in product or tech, and it aligns with what the company needs, I welcome it.
Full Exit
If you’re ready to step away completely, that’s okay too. I’ll just ask for a thoughtful knowledge transfer to ensure continuity.
I’m flexible as long as your role serves the business first.
What I Hope You’ll Say in Retrospect
If a founder looks back after working with me, what I hope they say is simple:
“Raj did what he said he would.
He was honest, transparent, and accountable.
He cared about the team and led with humility.”
Things won’t always be perfect, but my values won’t change.
I take the responsibility seriously and I show up every day to build something that lasts.
I’d love to hear what commitments you want to see from a buyer. Let’s connect!
