Raj is an experienced CEO that began his career in the financial sector. Born in a suburb in Los Angeles, Raj went to college at Boston University before embarking on his financial career in New York and Southern California. Raj spent 10 years at multiple investment banks as well as at a family office. In that time, he also took a year sabbatical to travel (22 countries). Raj then obtained his MBA from USC focusing on Entrepreneurship and Strategy.

Raj left the finance world and in 2014, he started Basswood Capital, a search fund, raised money from investors and set out to find a company to acquire and run.

In 2015, Raj acquired ProPoint Solutions, (fka Rogers Software Development). ProPoint Solutions was the maker of SuperSalon Software. SuperSalon was a Point-of-Sale software servicing 10,000+ salons and spas across North America. Raj maintained the virtual nature of the business but built out a headquarters in Minneapolis, MN. Raj retained all of the employees at acquisition and focused on investing in the business. He invested in management, new hires, systems, and processes. Raj created numerous partnerships that provided additional services for salons and spas to expand the value of working with ProPoint. Additionally, Raj made a couple of smaller acquisitions to grow the business. Ultimately, Raj doubled the ARR of the business in the first 4 years. Raj sold SuperSalon to a strategic acquiror in September 2021, locking in a positive return for investors as well as ensuring a future for the staff. 

 

Additionally, Raj is on the Board for the YPO Waterloo Austin Chapter and used to serve on the Board for the Minnesota State Chamber of Commerce. Raj is an avid traveler and terrible golfer.

Raj is now looking to leverage his lessons learned during his time as CEO of ProPoint and has formed Jaan Capital to invest and acquire another small to medium size software or tech-enabled business to grow.

"Jaan" is the Hindi word for "life" or "loved one" as he's realized how much of one's effort goes into running a business and taking care of its family.
